Rotary Vocal Contest

WHAT: Local vocal music competition open to all juniors and seniors in Rotary District 7120. This includes these eleven counties: Allegheny, Chemung, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates, and the township of Pavilion in Genesee County. .


AWARDS: First. Second, and Third Place winners will receive cash rewards; $1000 for First, $500 for Second and $300 for Third.) Roberts Wesleyan College may grant scholarships the three finalists if he/she decides to attend Roberts Wesleyan College School of Music.

Hosted by the Rochester Philharmonic League of the RPO since 1955, the Young Artist Auditions is the region’s most prestigious competition for high school-age musicians, recognizing talent and dedication in Male Vocal, Female Vocal, Strings, Piano, and Instrumental categories.  The YAA is judged by professionals in each field, with awards of $500 given for each classification. The winners and runners-up compete for a $1,000 Instrumental Scholarship, a $1000 Vocal Scholarship, and the opportunity to perform in concert with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

The 2019 Young Artist Auditions competition will take place on March 10, 2019 at the Eastman School of Music, 26 Gibbs Street, Rochester, NY. Applications will be accepted until January 31, 2019.

The Recital Competition is open to advanced students in grades 10-12 in the nine-county region surrounding Rochester. The winners are presented in recital in the Hochstein Performance Hall and recorded for future broadcast on WXXI-FM Classical 91.5.
