RPYO musicians sit alongside RPO musicians for this annual collaboration concert with music focused on the endless journey of self-discovery; the process of figuring out what matters most as well as the trials and tribulations inherent in actualizing one’s own vision artistically and personally. The program begins with the premiere of a new work by RPYO Alum Evan Henry which explores his passion for poetry and myths. After which, we’ll hear Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, which tells the tale of the two star-crossed lovers as they seek to forge their own path together despite the unyielding feud between their families. Finally, we’ll arrive at Howard Hanson’s beloved “Romantic” Symphony which sought to establish an American Neo-Romantic style.
